Pressure testing verifies the pressure capacity and also tests the current pressure of your systems to ensure that there are no safety hazards such as leaks and weak spots. Having the right people and equipment can mean the difference between a safe system, or one that poses a risk not only to your equipment, but the safety and well-being of your most valuable asset: your people.
The two most common types of pressure testing are pneumatic testing and hydrostatic testing. Greene’s Energy Group provides a full range of both pneumatic and hydrostatic testing services and equipment for oil and gas drilling, completion, production, pipeline and construction operations.
Pneumatic testing uses either an inert gas or air to pressurize the system. Pneumatic test equipment includes gauges that read pressure and a source of compressed gases.
Hydrostatic testing is used to pressurize the system through the use of a liquid such as water. Pressure testing is mission-critical in virtually all oil and gas instances not only to ensure safety, but also to maintain proper functioning of your equipment.
Greene’s performs pressure testing of pipes, pipelines and vessels to expose defective materials that may have been missed during prior inspections. We also ensure that any remaining defects are insignificant enough to allow operation at design pressures, expose possible leaks, and serve as a final validation of the integrity of the system.
All of Greene’s field personnel have policies and procedures they follow when performing either hydrostatic or pneumatic testing. Our quality control procedures include logs to show all tests that have been run.

Put Us to the Test ... The Pressure Control Test
The highest risk failure in the oil and gas business is a blowout, either in a well or on other ancillary pressurized equipment. A blowout may be an uncontrolled flow of oil, gas, saltwater, or a mixture of all three. The fluids or gases flowing out of a well or other apparatus can escape and are often flammable. This means that you are dealing with both pressure and explosive materials. It’s not only an environmental hazard, it is also a health and human safety issue. Pressure testing may cost a small amount more on the front end but will pay great dividends throughout the life of your equipment.
